Q.

#asktheexperts We have Ranitidine Oral Solution (Renting Syrup) prescribed earlier. Can we give this medicine whenever the baby has gastric pain or discomfort, or should it be given only under your advice each time? Also, we are currently giving Woodward’s Gripe Water before food and using the inhaler whenever he gets cough, as advised. Please confirm if this routine is okay. Thank you, Doctor. 🙏

A. GRipe water should not be given to the child I don’t know who advised you to give it but it’s not advisable if you ask any Paed they will just straightaway discard the the use and if the medicine that you’re using for gas and all has been suggested by the doctor then you can continue with it and using inhalers on a regular basis for such a small child is not good you should look for a better option after figuring out the right reason behind
