Q.

Sir/Madam, my boy is 8 months+, one doctor prescribed me iron supplements to give, till 1 yr and another doctor advised me to not give unnecessary iron drops as the growth of the child is great and doesn't need the medicine as I am giving formula milk to the baby which has all the necessary supplements in it. What should I do, do I continue iron along with Vitamin D or stop it. I am very confused. Please guide me.

A. Hai good afternoon !! Yes no other vitamin, mineral(iron, calcium) except Vitamin D are required unless and until if there is any deficiency. Until one year vitamin D is suggested ,and Iron is not necessary if there is no iron deficiency. You can give fruits, vegetables puriee, mashes, dry fruits and nuts powder in cerelac, carrot, beetroot, ragi porridge are rich in iron so you can give iron ,calcium other mineral, vitamins rich foods in diet.
