Shreya MitraMom of a 9 yr 5 m old boy6 years agoA. Not hereditary. It’s just a habit. My sister in law bites her nails where as no one in the family does that. It’s just a habit and it’s better to nip it in the bud if your baby does so. It is one major cause of stomach infection
