my son is 9month and 1 week he has got fever from 1day I gave calpol but the fever didn't reduced when I give calpol it is alright from sometime and again the fever is high what is reson for sudden fever and home remedies for fever

Fever is the response of the body towards any kind of infection or any inflammatory process in body and only when the temperature is above 99F it is called as fever, so you can give paracetamol in a dose of 15 mg/kg/dose as the first line treatment this dose can be again repeated after every 5 - 6 hours if again required and you can also do cold sponging of the body to reduce fever in between the doses ,but if it continues even thereafter you should consult your doctor for proper treatment. if the temperature is not controlled by paracetamol alone, meftal p can be given in between as a single dose but only under medical guidance.these medicines will also work to relieve any pain be aor body ache. but in case of infection in which the fever is associated with other problems also it is recommended to get the clinical assessment done and get a proper treatment done by a doctor.
