Mom of a 5 yr old boy3 years ago
Q.

My son is 24 months old. Though babbling was present from 9-10 months, He started talking late.He perhaps said his first meaningful words at maybe at 19-20 months. From then on he has increased his vocab to about 50 words. But I am noticing that he is sticking to saying only the first syllable of the word, like it's "bah" for ball, banana, bat etc, "kah" for car and cat, "dah" for duck and "ah" for apple. He does say other consonant-vowels sound like Bow-bow, or the lion goes "Guurrrrr", "sta" for star, cow, Gua guava) etc. Even for 2 phrase words, it's like "geee bah"(give ball). is this normal ? I am trying to talk to him as much as possible, sing and read books.

A. he us 2 year old, Some children are late speakers, specially boys. Spend lots of time communities with your child. asked frequent question or or make him ask for it and then give it to him- a process call.Don’t try to force your child to speak. encourage your baby is he or she repeat or even try. try making him say the name of objects .
