A. If your 12-month-old son is rejecting solids and vomiting, it could be due to several reasons, such as a mild stomach upset, teething discomfort, or simply adjusting to new textures. Here are a few steps you can try: 1. Start with Simple Foods: Offer easily digestible foods, such as rice porridge, mashed bananas, applesauce, or plain yogurt, which are gentle on the stomach. 2. Introduce Small Portions: Give very small amounts at a time. Sometimes, seeing a large quantity of food can overwhelm a baby. 3. Watch Texture: Some babies are sensitive to textures. Start with smooth, pureed foods if he struggles with lumps, then slowly increase the texture. 4. Offer Food at Relaxed Times: Try offering solids when he's calm and not overly hungry or tired, as this can help reduce vomiting. 5. Avoid Forcing Food: Forcing him to eat can create negative associations with food. Let him eat at his own pace and show interest. 6. Check for Allergies or Sensitivities: Observe if specific foods trigger vomiting, as this could indicate a sensitivity or intolerance. 7. Teething Pain: Teething can sometimes make babies refuse food. You might try giving him a chilled teething ring before meals to soothe his gums. If he continues to vomit regularly or appears to be in discomfort, it’s best to consult a pediatrician to rule out any underlying issues and get tailored guidance.
