Q.

my son is 10 days old. born with jaundice. ( level 22) after phototherapy given.. it is decreased to 19. now HB is low ( 7).. doctor suggests blood transfusion. is it safe ? I worried too much.

A. The hb levels of a new born baby should be around 14-15. As your baby has half of it ,it requires treatment. If you want you can take all the reports in a local hospital for second opinion too. Also try to find out the cause of anemia in the baby

A. Hello ma’am It is saved if the doctor is suggesting it to you but still I would advise you to go for a second opinion before you take a decision of blood transfusion because it is always better to be sure about all these things before you take the final decision
