Q.

My son got DTP and rotavirus shots at 45 days old. Post vaccination after 2 days his poop stinking a lot like rotten eggs with little mucus and is crying a lot. To me it seems like stomach upset. Also he has got cold and cough. I feel like it's due to rotavirus oral drops side effects. Is this normal and when will these side effects subside?

A. Its not an vaccination side effect It may be viral infection Mostly  cough cold, are viral in origin They may subside by 3 -9 days No need of any medication if mild.  If cough and cold then need steam inhalation, nasal decongestant drops (nasivion baby nasal drops 1drop in each nostril 3 times a day for 3 days). And cough syrp or drops as per babys Cough condition  (wet or dry). Keep ur baby well hydrated in cough cold  episode Proper hand washing, keeping away ur baby from other infected persons, exclusive breast feeding ur baby till 6months of the age. It will help.  If decreased urine output, refusal to feed, decreased activity, breathing difficulty Then need consultation with nearest pediatrician.
