ExpertDr. Swapnil SaxenaAyurvedic Physician7 years agoA. Hi iys fine The first three years of life are more important for acquiring language and speech skills as brain is maturing and developing . Babies by the end of third month develop social smile and start cooing By the end of sixth month will move his head and turn to the direction of sound and start to make different babbling sounds. By the end of 12 months may start saying few bisyllables like dada nana baba . Can even understand simple commands like come here By the end of 2 years the vocabulary develops to about 50 words and understands simple commands and questions. Can ask two word questions. Knows body parts. By three years of age he speaks in a language that is understandable by family members and names objects . Speaks short sentences. By 4 years he speaks easily. Moreover every baby is different in achieving his developmental milestones so do not worry much just keep encouraging. Good day
