Q.
my son 2 yrs is suffering from diarrhea since last night. he is on ORS since morning and his stools are not stopping. doc asked to wait. it's difficult to see him like this. what all can I do

ExpertDr. Minal AcharyaNutritionist8 years agoA. it is very important to maintain good hydration right now. initially give curd and buttermilk curd with soft cooked rice, mashed banana are good for stomach give frequent soft semi liquid foods ones which are preferred by the child like light khichadi, thick soup. for hydration keep feeding ors after every stool and can give coconut water use Clean safe water for preparation of food maintain proper hygiene hand wash with soap after before feeding also for baby

ExpertDr.Rasika ThosarPaediatric Intensivist8 years agoA. continue prescribed medications. if you have introduced any new food, skip it for time being. maintain good hydration. curd, buttermilk help in maintaining good intestinal bacteria. keep a close watch on urine color, hydration, maintain good oral intake. if child appears drowsy, blood in stools or not feeding well then consult your paediatrician. maintain good hygiene while feeding your baby. hope this helps.

Author of questionMom of a 10 yr 2 m old boy8 years agoA. thanks. since yesterday he is not having even ORS. I have tried different flavors, glucose, electrol powder also. last poop he did was green in color and it's been 4 hours he has not passed stool but vomited once
