as it's given by your pediatrician,it should be safe and you may give it
but along with that,you may try homemade remedies which help to cure this faster.
for example
you can apply Babyhug rapid relief rub on chest and back of your child
you can give few spoons of warm water and turmeric powder in two tsp quantity twice in a day
