A. Babies suck their fingers for many reasons. She might have discovered her fingers and she is trying to explore it with her mouth by sucking or she may be hungry or it soothes her paining gums due to teething or when she feels insecure. In any case you do not worry. Keep her fingers always clean and remove it from her mouth whenever you can and try diverting her attention with other toys. She will slowly outgrow it. You can try setting up a sleep routine. However babies until three or four months can have varied sleep patterns and it is difficult to regularize. Try creating a feeding routine, this in turn will help to set a sleep routine. Feed on the same time everyday during day time, follow the same time for bathing, like this her naps will be regularised. Follow a night time routine. Make the baby skip one nap at the evening, then follow a night time routine like a mild massage( Oil massage at night helps the baby to have a good sleep. You can use warm coconut oil massage followed by sponge bathing with warm water. you can give warm water bath followed by a massage with baby moisturiser. ),changing to night clothes, diapering (whichn will help the baby to sleep deeply without waking up because of wet clothes) , feedinfg the baby, switch off the lights, play a mild soothing lullaby. If the baby wakes in between do not switch on the lights which will encourage her to play. Hopefully she will get used to this routine. The time and following everyday is the key. And if the baby is suffering from colic pain she may be restless at night.
