Q.

my lo is 1.5months old. the soft spot on top of his head is still there..how long does it take for the spot to close?

A. it may take around 18 months to sometimes 2 years of age to totally close but at the same time it is important to rule out calcium and vitamin d deficiency in the child

A. Babies have two soft spots(fontanels) . The one on the back of the head closes by 1 or 2 months of age. The one on the top of the head can take anywhere between 7 to 19 months to close. It can be different in each baby. But before Tonsuring it will be good if both the soft spots are closed. Most babies get tonsured around 11 months.
