Q.
My kid is 4 months old She vomitted Friday night and fever started onSaturday morning and the fever is around 100.5F and on Sunday started with loose motions and we seek medical help and started medicine.Today she vomitted once and loose stools is turning into little solid type .She is still complaining of severe tummy pain.Today no fever from morning but the fever started tonight again. What should be the reason.Whst type of infection is this.please suggest

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. if you are giving only breastfeeding then there is a possibility that slightly loose to semi solid stool may be present intermittently.
if you see that it is totally watery and also you are giving outside milk then it is advisable to get the child examined by the doctor to rule out any digestion problem or any infection.
need of probiotics (sachet superflora gg once a day can be given) and zinc has to be evaluated.
in the meantime kindly continue breastfeeding to prevent dehydration.
you can give ors also if water loss is more
if there is blood in the stool then kindly meet the doctor immediately because it can be dysentery also.
for vomiting you can give drops domstal or drops perinorm 2 to 3 drops half an hour before feed and then wait for 15 to 20 minutes and then yotu can give feeding.
during this time please keep the child in an upright position.t
vomiting medicines can be given maximum 3 times per day if required.
it is important to meet the doctor to rule out any obstruction and regurgitation and reflux issues in the child
