A. axillary temperature more than 99, oral more than 100, rectal more than 100.4 degree Fahrenheit is fever. . just feed well. wear comfortable clothing. do sponging with water at normal temperature, not too cold. it helps in taking temperature down. do not give medications without prescriptions. consult your doctor in case of persistent fever, poor oral intake, excessively sleepy child.

A. Yes its normal. Check the temperature with a digital or mercury thermometer. Keep it under the baby's arm pit and wait for a minute. Now look at the temperature. Infants less than three months old can have normal body temperature between 97.5 to 99.5 degree Fahrenheit when taken using axillary method (under arm pit). For older babies, If the temperature is above 99 degree Fahrenheit then you should give paracetamol syrup prescribed by your pediatrician.
