POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy11 months agoA. In young children, especially in boys under 4-5 years old, hydrocele (a fluid-filled sac around the testicle) often resolves on its own without the need for surgery. Many hydroceles in children are congenital (present at birth) and tend to disappear by the time the child turns 1-2 years old, but sometimes they persist until the age of 4 or 5.
Here’s what to keep in mind:
Observation: Pediatricians often recommend observing the hydrocele to see if it resolves on its own over time.
No discomfort: If the hydrocele is not causing pain or discomfort, and the child is otherwise healthy, doctors usually suggest waiting.
Surgery: If the hydrocele does not resolve by age 4-5, or if it becomes larger or causes discomfort, surgery (hydrocelectomy) may be recommended to remove the fluid and repair the sac.
It's important to follow up with your pediatrician to monitor the condition and determine the best course of action for your grandson.
