My daughter is 18months old. Can I give her pediasure?

A. Actually there is a mixed opinion among pediatrician these days about giving such health supplements . As per our pediatrician advice we didn't give any such things for our kids so far. They are five years old now and drink only plain milk. Our doctor says these supplements are prepared in such a way to alter the growth hormones and enable a faster weight gain and growth which is not natural but artificially triggered. Hence there are chances these supplements can cause obesity in children once they grow into adults. Hence including healthy fruits, vegetables, pulses, nuts, calcium, protein, iron and other vitamins rich foods in the kids regular diet is more than enough. As long as your kid eats properly and is healthy and active you need not worry about weight gain or their skinny looks. This is what he advices. It's better to get an opinion from ur pediatrician before starting ur kid on such supplements.
