Q.

My daughter has cold and fever... Now my mother in law gave her a spoon full of warm rum and applied vicks on her head, hands and chest... Also we her jayfal.... And last but not the least nasal drops as suggested by the doctor...my question is that is giving jayfal to babies is ok.... I know about rum but she don't listen.... And what about vicks

A. you should consult a doctor for proper medication. none of these meant for such a small baby. and ease when next time your mother in law will try to give the baby anything like these stop her and take the baby to the doctor

A. None of these things are recommended, as your baby is very small. Dont give jaifal. rather just breast feed well, as breast milk helpa in fight back all infections

A. Don’t use Vicks Vaporub but babyrub. That’s specially for babies. Calpol drops are given for fever but check with yr doc once. And rum!! Babies are not for experiments you know!!! Every baby will have 6-7 colds in first year at least which builds immunity in them. So it’s okay but make sure fever comes down. Take care. God bless...

A. None of the things are safe for babies but applying joyful is ok but giving Rum and applying Vicks on your baby is not good and when this is so hot you should avoid jpil
