Q.

My child is 3 years 11 months, he is suffering from severe cough it's been 30 days, I have visited the doctor suggested to use Ascoril expectorant , The cough has completely stopped but it's reoccurring. Please advise.

A. it is in diagnosis of allergic cough cold . here the child will have regular cough and cold which is usually not associated with fever . it increases and decreases but does not get cured completely. dr will give anti allergic medicine usually motelukast / levocetirizine. if its still not improving the next line of treatment will be inhaler therapy with mdi / nebulizer. allergy can be environmental (temperature variation -hot to cold weather/ cold water intake / dust / smoke / pollens) , fooxd , chocolate / packet preservatives food and sweet food also. body cannot sustain such allergic changes leading to cough cold usually at evening /night and morning.

A. Maybe your child is allergic to something and that is why it is constantly happening with your child also I would advise you to conduct allergy test to know what’s the problem exactly and secondly you should also start nebulising the child it really helps a lot
