Q.

my child is 2 month old now hand has developed the habit of sucking his hands/finger/thumb. I know it's a milestone and nothing to worry about just read somewhere that don't stop your child if he/she wants to suck. But If will not be stopped then it will become their habit. Suggest what to do. As right now we are trying to remove his hand from his mouth.

A. finger, thumb, hand, things insertion in the oral cavity is very normal at this stage and usually it is due to teething pain the child is experiencing along with inflammation and pain in the gums. just maintain hygiene of the child finger as well as any type of things which goes inside the oral cavityx and also try to maintain the hygiene of your finger when you are touching the hands of the child. to decrease thex teething pain you can press the gums of the child and if the child is very irritable and crying for pain you can give paracetamol also. it is a self limiting habit and no treatment is required.

A. What is not a milestone let me tell u this is the habit so I don’t get it so confuse with a milestone it’s not a milestone is this a casual habit of a child and to get rid of it you just have to keep taking the hand out of the mouth every time that’s what you can do and after the age of 3 to 3 1/2 months mostly this kind of a habit increases when a child is having its teeth Write Your Answer Here
