A. It's common for babies to experience mild symptoms like slight cough or congestion after vaccinations, but if your 2-month-old baby is having difficulty swallowing due to a lot of phlegm, it's important to monitor her closely. Here are a few steps you can take: 1. Saline Drops or Nasal Suction: Use saline nasal drops to help clear her nose and phlegm, making it easier for her to breathe and swallow. You can also use a bulb syringe to gently suction the mucus from her nose. 2. Keep Her Head Elevated: When feeding or resting, try to keep her head slightly elevated to reduce discomfort and help with mucus drainage. 3. Breastfeeding or Formula: Continue to breastfeed or provide formula to keep her hydrated and to help thin the mucus. 4. Warm Humidifier: Use a humidifier in the room to keep the air moist, which can help loosen the phlegm and soothe her throat. 5. Monitor for Fever or Other Symptoms: Keep an eye on her for signs of fever, persistent cough, or difficulty breathing. If the symptoms worsen or last for more than a few days, or if you notice labored breathing or a change in her feeding habits, consult your pediatrician. It's important to seek medical advice if you're concerned, especially since babies are more vulnerable to respiratory issues.
