Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy12 months agoA. you have to first understand that when you say it is constipation then it means that the child is having hard stools. you have to find the cause of constipation and there is no need to give any medicines without medical consultation.
straining while passing stool as well as urine is normal.
the child is crying due to colic pain (due to gas) and not due to the reason that the child has not passed the stool.
infants may not pass stool for 10 days also and if the consistency of the stool is semi solid to solid it is not constipation. you can consider constipation only if it is hard and dry stools.
you can give anticolic medicines and meet your doctor.
burping / upright position for 20 minutes will help in decreasing the gas and future colic pain
