my baby is suffering from cough and cold. should I use ac at the temperature of 26-27, m not using fan while using ac

ExpertDr. Pandurang sawantPaediatrician7 years agoA. Yes keep AC tempt between 26-30 degree Most of the time cough cold, fever are viral in origin, it may subside by 3 -9 days. No need of any medication if mild. If fever above 100F then need fever medication (paracetmol) as per weight. If cold then need steam inhalation, nasal decongestant drops (nasivion baby nasal drops/Otrivin-P nasal drops 1drop in each nostril 3 times a day for 3 days). If cough then need cough syrup or drops as per babys cough condition (wet or dry). Keep ur baby well hydrated in cough cold fever episode Maintain hygiene, hand wash properly, Keep ur baby away from other infected persons, continue to give all food items as before, continue breast feed as well till 1.5 yrs of age. It will help for fast recovery. If decreased oral intake, decreased urine output, breathing difficulty, Then need consultation with nearest pediatrician.

ExpertDr.Rasika ThosarPaediatric Intensivist7 years agoA. ac at temperature 24 to 26 degrees is fine.avoid direct ac air blast on baby. check baby's palms and soles to have an idea whether he is cold or not. if in ac , baby should have 1 additional layer to what you are wearing. if not in ac. simple cotton clothes are fine.swaddle with light cotton blanket if you want.

Don't use AC for kids baby,it will cause cold fever again again,my son also same problems after I use AC past 2 years,again again cough,cold ,fever,now I stop using AC,now he is very fine.in bedroom use fan and open the windows,put mosquito net in widow s,if you have mosquito means.AC is not good for health.

s madaanMom of a 10 yr 2 m old girl7 years agoA. Definitely you can put on AC as well as fan when your baby is suffering with cough and cold it is already uneasy for the baby to sleep if you will switch off all these things also that your baby will definitely restless and will not get proper sleep
