A. In case the breast milk production is less, the baby should be on formula milk till the time the baby completes 6 months of age. Once the baby completes 6 months of age, the baby can be given water, solids and semi solids along with atleast 2 sessions of formula milk. Whole cow's milk and milk products can be started only when the baby is one year old as iron fortified formula milk has more iron content when compared to cow's milk and cow's milk if started early can cause iron deficiency anemia. Even after cow's milk is started, the child should be given iron rich foods.
