A. Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a common viral infection in young children. Here’s what you can do to help manage the symptoms: 1. Hydration: Ensure your baby stays hydrated. Offer plenty of fluids like water, diluted fruit juices, and oral rehydration solutions. 2. Pain Relief: For pain and fever, you can use acetaminophen or ibuprofen (as directed by your pediatrician). Avoid giving aspirin to children under 18 due to the risk of Reye’s syndrome. 3. Soft Foods: If your baby has mouth sores, provide soft, bland foods that are easy to swallow, like mashed potatoes, applesauce, or yogurt. 4. Good Hygiene: Wash your baby’s hands frequently and keep their environment clean to prevent the spread of the virus. 5. Monitor Symptoms: Keep an eye on their symptoms. If there’s high fever, difficulty breathing, or signs of dehydration, contact your pediatrician. 6. Rest: Ensure your baby gets plenty of rest to help their body fight off the infection. Most cases of HFMD are mild and resolve on their own within 7 to 10 days. If you have concerns about your baby’s condition or if symptoms worsen, consult with your pediatrician for further advice.
