Q.

my baby is constipating very often, he is only 3 months old (breastfeeding) , i went to see the doctor and he prescribed me some syrup twice but even after taking the medicine also he is constipating. why is it so?

A. Constipation is a common problem in children for which diet modification is important like including high fibres in the diet for which you can give seasonal fruits like papaya, watermelon and seasonal vegetables will also help , can give daliya or oatsmeal also .give more liquids. giving excess of milk may cause constipation too.also dohjavoid banana which may aggravate .lactulose or polyethylene glycol may be of good help,but give any medicine or suppository only when prescribed.
