A. A baby's skin colour, whether dark or fair, is decided by his genes at the moment of conception. There is nothing a parent can do to make their baby fairer or darker, but use this home remedies, in more traditional households, family elders may advise new mums to massage their babies with raw milk, fresh cream, besan (gram flour) and turmeric paste to ensure a fair and flawless complexion. This practice is best avoided as raw milk can carry a host of bacteria such as e.coli and salmonella, as well as cause diarrhoea and dysentery. Fresh cream also tends to make the skin greasy, which may cause rashes. Also, the abrasive nature of gram flour and turmeric may result in cuts and bruises to your baby's skin.
