POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy4 months agoA. At 5 months old, many babies are ready to start solid foods, but it varies depending on each baby’s development. Generally, the signs that your baby may be ready for solids include:
Good head control and sitting up with support. Showing interest in food (watching you eat or reaching for food). Being able to move food to the back of the mouth and swallow it.
You can begin with simple, single-ingredient purees like rice cereal, pureed vegetables (sweet potatoes, carrots), or fruits (apples, bananas). Start with small amounts and gradually increase as your baby adjusts.
Always continue breastfeeding or formula feeding alongside solids, as breast milk or formula is still the main source of nutrition at this stage. If you have any concerns or questions, it's always good to check with your pediatrician before starting solids.
