my baby is 4 years old during day she is ok but while she is asleep she starts coughing and feels uneasy, three days back my son who is two years old has fever for two days and got ok after giving calpol 120 syrup, he was also coughing in same way, doctor prescribed him protussa 2.5 ml thrice a day, he is fine but I want to know what could be the reason and why protussa is prescribed? my baby girl is also prescribed 5 ml protussa

Cough and Cold along with the symptom like Fever loss of appetite irritability could be a feature of viral infection or seasonal flu where most of the time supportive treatment is given. along with that cough expectorant and decongestant with antiallergic medicine given. steam inhaglation can be gibven frequently to relieve the symptoms.

I think it could probably be due to seasonal only as it is raining quite a lot in the season right now so I would recommend you to have an evaluation with your doctor and whatever is the reason behind it if it is allergy quality season the doctor would advise you with the right medication according to that
