my baby is 19 months old she's is having high temperature even if the syrups are given it's not reduced, if the sponge bath is given slowly after one hour the temperature is being reduced, and the baby has severe cold bit cough. why is the temperature not being reduced what are the reasons. is it viral or any other type of fever? kindly help us...

Usually the temperature goes down within half an hour of you giving the medication maybe you’re not giving the right dosage of the medicine is light for a heavy fever so you should give proper medication with proper dosage to the child who reduce down the temperature otherwise consult your paediatrician please
