Q.

My baby has been suffering from recurring fever since last night. I have been giving her 2.5 ml of Dolopar every 4 hours. I also have Brufen junior as recommended by her doctor in case of high fever. What I want to know is if I give her Brufen, do I still have to give her Dolopar?

A. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever . Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks . Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed . Lukewarm spovnge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fyever. Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial. Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .

A. You can give only one medicine for fever so you should continue with what your doctor has suggested and how your doctor has suggested normally the medicine is meant to be repeated in six hours but if your doctor says four hours ago for that and also do sponging as that helps a lot introducing down the temperature
