A. I'm sorry to hear that your baby is feeling unwell. It sounds like he is dealing with a significant throat infection, which is causing both the cough and fever. Here are a few steps you can take to help manage his symptoms: 1. **Follow the Doctor's Advice:** Make sure to follow any medication or treatment plan your doctor has prescribed, especially if antibiotics or fever reducers like acetaminophen (paracetamol) or ibuprofen have been recommended. 2. **Keep Him Hydrated:** Offer plenty of fluids to keep him hydrated. Warm fluids, like broth or warm water, can help soothe the throat and relieve coughing. 3. **Humidity:** Use a cool-mist humidifier in his room to add moisture to the air, which can help ease coughing and soothe a dry throat. 4. **Comfort Measures:** Ensure your baby is comfortable and has adequate rest. Elevating his head slightly while sleeping can help reduce coughing. 5. **Monitor Fever and Symptoms:** Keep an eye on his fever and any other symptoms. If his fever persists, worsens, or if he shows signs of difficulty breathing, a persistent high fever, or lethargy, seek medical attention immediately. 6. **Avoid Irritants:** Keep him away from smoke, strong odors, and other irritants that could aggravate his throat and cough. If you notice any worsening symptoms or if you're worried about his condition, it's important to reach out to your doctor again for further advice. Your baby's health and comfort are the most important, and your pediatrician can provide the best guidance based on his condition.
