Q.

My baby boy is 8 months old, detected a very little murmur in his heart, Dr. Has suggested to get 2decho done to be on a safer side. My baby's growth is perfectly normal, weight gain is normal, he is a very active and happy baby. Have never detected any abnormalities In him. So, my question is what is this murmur in heart and what does it indicate?

A. Although the name is unsettling, heart murmurs are very common in children. Usually, they are normal sounds made as the blood is pumped through the heart chambers, valves and arteries--like a whooshing or swishing noise. Rarely, they may need to be checked by a specialist to rule out any problems.
