Q.

My baby 1.5 yrs old fell from a certain height into the bed. Her right hand elbow dislocated and went to the doctor. Doctor corrected it and in the x ray there is a scratch in the bone. He put her hand in a sling but she refuses to wear it. Today there is swelling in that part. But she moves her and is active. But she keeps her hand in a bent shape. Doctor said to visit him after 3 days. what should I do??

A. Any Fall injury specially head injury needs to be assessed properly . In any such case certain symptoms needs to be checked like loss of consciousness reccurrent vomiting or any abnormal moment or convulsions . Such case needs immediate medical intervention as there could be some internal injury . Otherwise application of ice locally to reduce the swelling and pain can be done along with some analgesic like paracetamol. Recurrent fall injury for a child should be avoided as it fddcan lead to some chronic manifestations occasionally . Also teeth injury should be rule out in any such case which is commonly associated and can be easily missed out most of the time .
