My 8 months old girl does not eat in a sitting position, she prefers to stay inclined on a pillow for purees. Is this okay? But she can sit properly and play while sitting.

No it is not correct and you should not encourage it you should make sure that you are making your child sit in sitting position and feed that way because when your child can sit independently then your child can eat in that position only and that is how you need supposed to proceed with it so kindly just please make your child in the right position itself
