Q.

my 8 month baby girl is suffering from cough and my peadetrican is prescribed promethazine syrup-3.5 ml for 3 times in a day as per my knowledge promethazine is not prescribed below 2 years should I continue with promethazine if not kindly suggest other medicines.

A. Cough and Cold along with the symptom like Fever loss of appetite irritability could be a feature of viral infection or seasonal flu where most of the time supportive treatment is given. along with that cough expectorant and decongestant with ant iallergic medicine given. steam inhalcation can be given frequently to relieve the symptoms.

A. yes it can not be given usually but if you still not find it good or seen any reaction do consult with your doctor or take second opinion for the same. just keep observing your baby post giving medicine or discontinue the medicine
