A. Tongue-sucking is a common behavior in infants, and it can be challenging to manage. Here are some tips to help reduce or stop this habit in your seven-month-old: Strategies to Reduce Tongue-Sucking: 1. Distraction: Offer toys or engage her in activities when you notice she is sucking her tongue. Keep her hands busy with soft toys or rattles. 2. Positive Reinforcement: Praise her when she is not sucking her tongue, encouraging her to focus on other activities. 3. Gradual Reduction: If she tends to suck her tongue while feeding, try to reduce the feeding time gradually, transitioning to other comforting methods like cuddling or gentle rocking. 4. Soothe in Other Ways: Introduce a pacifier or teething toy if she's using tongue-sucking for comfort. This can provide a similar soothing effect. 5. Consistency: Be consistent in your approach. Gently remind her not to suck her tongue without scolding, as negative reactions may make her more anxious. When to Consult a Pediatrician: If the behavior persists or if you have concerns about her oral development, consider discussing it with your pediatrician for further guidance. They can offer tailored advice based on her needs.
