My 5 months old baby has cough and cold and i have been prescribed below medicine.

Salbutamol Sulphate Syrup IP
Asthalin.

3.75 ml per day for 7 days. I have gave it for 4 days and I have noticed that my babys arms and legs were shivering a lot.
When I informed my pedia. he asked me to stop Asthalin dose.

So please let me know if Asthalin dose of 3.75ml/day to 5 months old infant is fine or harmful since now I dont trust of the pediatrician who gives such a high dose for normal cold cough.

Can Asthalin be used for cold/cough/wheezing to infants? Is it safe for babys health ? Please let me know

Yes, it us prescribed if wheezing is there. Common cold is a viral infection of nose and throat. Nasal Congestion and runny nose are the main indicators of a cold. Keep feeding your baby well, give indirect steam or use humidifier, put saline nasal drops. You can prevent it by keeping your baby away from the person who is suck, wash your hands before handling the baby, clean baby's toys and pacifier often

it can be used . shivering Is a known side effect.
nothing to worry about.
	avoid cold climate, cold winds.

give plenty of feeds , adequate rest to the baby.

indirect steam , hot water bath will also help.

consult your paediatrician if baby is feeding less, excessively drowsy or if cold increases.

post illness babies might be cranky , irritable.

nose block congestion also result in loss of appetite, difficult sucking. try different head up feeding position.

feed by spoon otherwise.

Maintain hygiene.

if bottle feeding, maintain sterility as its a common source of infections.

Apply mustard oil with a pinch of rock salt over chest back and neck of the baby and also u should give ajvain sek by roasting ajvain over tawa and then it to the hanky and keeping it near the head of the baby
Keep head elevated for helping child to breath easy.

For runny nose or blocked nose
Use saline drops and nasal aspirator to clean up the mucus
Keep head elevated
Apply cream near nose to avoid dryness and itching
Keep baby well hydrated
Apply turmeric paste over nose and forehead of the baby will help
