Q.

my 3 and half month old baby has got rash around his mouth. He is drooling too much these days and puts his fingers in mouth most of the time. Is it because of saliva? I have attached pic of the same. I wipe his mouth with cotton cloth dipped in warm water often. But still it's not gone. what is the remedy for this?

A. Sometimes drool can lead to a rash around the mouth, To keep drool from getting in contact with baby’s skin, do wipe the drool off often with a soft, gently cloth.  Apply a thin coat of a healing ointment like petroleum jelly...don't rub. If the rash is cracked, weepy, or causing your baby pain Consult your paedritician.

A. Aloe vera mixed with petroleum jelly may help reduce some of the redness and inflammation from drool rash. Some parents may choose to use coconut oil or cocoa butter to help soothe rashes from teething.
