Q.
my 20 month old is still having the soft spot on his head which is supposed to subside by 18 months. any idea?

No no it is not necessary necessary this is going to close by 17 or 18 months yes I agree that we do save but sometimes it can close by the age of two years to 2 1/2 years as well but yes since it is 18 months complete it would be good that you consult your doctor 1st for further advice
