Q.

my 2 mnth 20 days baby on formula feed.. initally few days back he used to take 120 ml around feed at 3 hr interval. now he is more into play at the time of feeding like cooing , smiling at things, nibbling bottle's nipple n takes 60 to 90 ml at a time but den need to give him feed every 2 hrly.. how to change dis habit

A. yes Maam at this state you should feed atleast every 2 hours. 3 hours is also more at this stage. The quantity of formula milk depends on baby's weight. baby should be given 150-200 ml of formula feed for every kg of baby weight. for example if baby is 3 kgs then give 450-600 ml in 24 hrs. that is the thumb rule. Divide this through the day. But since all babies are different then the quantity may vary a bit also.  Please refer to the instructions on the box also once where the quantity will be given as per baby's weight or age. One note about formula feeding: It's easier to overfeed when using formula because it takes less effort to drink from a bottle than from a breast. So please make sure you keep an on the quantity.
