A. It’s common for a 1 year and 3 months old baby to have phases of poor appetite, especially during teething, growth changes, or after illness. At this age, babies are also exploring independence, so they may resist eating as a form of expression. However, if your child is active, gaining weight steadily, and meeting milestones, occasional eating refusal is usually not serious.
To help, offer small, frequent meals, include a variety of textures and colors, and eat together as a family to set an example. Avoid force-feeding. Keep mealtimes calm and avoid distractions like screens. If your child consistently refuses food, loses weight, or appears lethargic, consult a pediatrician to rule out underlying issues like nutritional deficiencies or oral problems.
