Q.

In whole day baby is breastfeeding and approx 2-3 times formula milk is given when prolonged feeding session is there. Urine is passed 7-8 times per day. It is observed that baby poops when formula milk is given 2-3 times a day. Want to go exclusively breastfeeding but thinking if he don't poop after going exclusively breastfeeding. Also my breasts seems soft and squizy. So not sure if my milk will be sufficient or not. How can I switch to exclusively breastfeeding? how many prolonged sessions are there in day. Will it be only one so that I can minimise formula feeding to 1 per day

A. there is no need to give formula milk if the weight gain of the child is proper it is totally normal for small children less than 6 months of age not to pass stool for 10 days also. it is also normal if they are passing stool more than 6 or 7 times per day. if the consistency of the stool is Semi solid to solid there is no need to worry about the frequency as well as the colour (the colour can range from yellow brown green to black) of the stool. also straining while passing urine and stool is normal. Do burping for 15 to 20 minutes
