A. cough and cold medicine is given according to the requirement and examination so do not give any medicine without medical consultation. if given without consultation coughing medicine can aggravate the problem. you can go for home remedies like tulsi ginger (honey is added when child is more than 1 year of age) combination which can be diluted with water and given frequently to the child. also you can give turmeric with milk oned or two times everyday. give warm water to drink as well as nasal saline drops frequently. give warm diet try to prevent temperature variations around the child that is from hot to cold and cold to hot environment . d

A. For a one-year-old baby with a cough, it's generally best to avoid over-the-counter cough medicines without consulting a pediatrician. However, there are several home remedies you can try to help soothe their cough: 1. **Honey:** For babies over one year old, a small amount of honey can help soothe a cough. Give half a teaspoon of honey, but avoid giving honey to babies under one year old due to the risk of botulism. 2. **Humidifier:** Use a cool-mist humidifier in your baby's room to add moisture to the air, which can help ease coughing and keep the throat from becoming too dry. 3. **Hydration:** Make sure your baby stays well-hydrated with plenty of fluids, such as water, breast milk, or formula. 4. **Elevate the Head:** Slightly elevate the head of your baby's crib mattress to help with nasal drainage and reduce coughing at night. 5. **Steam:** Sit in the bathroom with the shower running hot to create steam. The steam can help loosen mucus and ease coughing. Hold your baby in the bathroom for about 15 minutes. 6. **Saline Drops:** Use saline nasal drops to help loosen mucus in the nose, followed by gentle suction with a bulb syringe. 7. **Warm Liquids:** Warm liquids like chicken broth can be soothing and help thin mucus, making it easier to expel. If the cough persists for more than a week, worsens, or is accompanied by fever, difficulty breathing, wheezing, or other concerning symptoms, it's important to seek medical advice from a pediatrician.
