Q.
I have been suffering from fever, sore throat and cough since last 4 days. My one and a half year old son is also in the grip of being with me, he is having a lot of pain in his throat and chest as well as he can't even eat. Please tell me something.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. cough and cold can be infective or allergic in cause.you can give steam to relieve nasal congestion which is of great help and nasoclear drops can also be used in nose multiple times.you can also give sinarest drops .
cough syrup or nebulization should be given according to the type of cough and only under the guidance of your pediatrician .self medication is not recommended.
if the cough is productive give asthakind-ls. Usually due to the symptoms if the child is not showing interest in having food, give only simple home-made preparations as required, can give certain fruits like apple, papaya etc. ,vbxachild will start to eat as symptoms get resolved.
Due to seasonal changes or due to repeated exposure to the infective agent if the child is catching cold and cough repeatedly you need to develop good immunity by giving proper balanced diet and multi -vitamin supplements under medical guidance.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which shouldkhu be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough.
if fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .
