Q.

I have a 14 month old girl who has mumps since 8 days what should I do? I have shown it to the doctor, he said there is no medicine, wait it will get better

A. yes it is a self limiting viral infection mumps is a type of viral infection. it is due to infection in the parotid gland which is type of salivary gland. it is a self limiting illness and the child will improve in 4 to 7 days. it can involve one side or both sides of the jaw where parotid gland is present. symptomatic treatment is given in the form of paracetamol and warm compress can be done to decrease the swelling. please remain in contact with your doctor for treatment. it can be prevented by giving mmr vaccination.

A. No of course as a treatment for that I think it’s better that you take an advice from your another doctor just take a second opinion from another paediatrician they’ll be able to help you correctly on this and also with medicines and precautions you need to take
