A. dear mum, you should stop feeding formula and feed only breast milk if you have adequate supply. the more you breastfeed more will be the milk supply. you should then feeding directly from the breast.

A. It can be challenging when your baby doesn't accept direct breastfeeding and you struggle with milk supply. Here are some tips to help increase your milk supply and manage feeding: ### Increasing Milk Supply: 1. **Frequent Pumping**: Pump every 2-3 hours, including at night. Consistent stimulation can help increase supply. 2. **Double Pumping**: Use a double electric breast pump to stimulate both breasts simultaneously, which can be more effective. 3. **Breast Stimulation**: Massage your breasts before and during pumping to encourage milk flow. 4. **Stay Hydrated and Well-Nourished**: Drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet with sufficient calories and nutrients. 5. **Skin-to-Skin Contact**: Spend time holding your baby skin-to-skin. This can stimulate the hormones that help with milk production. 6. **Relaxation Techniques**: Stress can impact milk supply. Try to relax while pumping by listening to music, deep breathing, or looking at your baby's photos. ### Managing Feeding: 1. **Combination Feeding**: Continue pumping and supplementing with formula as needed. Offer breast milk first, then follow up with formula if needed. 2. **Consider Lactation Aids**: Devices like a Supplemental Nursing System (SNS) allow you to supplement with formula while breastfeeding, helping to stimulate your milk supply. 3. **Consult a Lactation Consultant**: A professional can provide personalized advice, help with latch issues, and suggest techniques to encourage direct breastfeeding. ### Boosting Milk Supply Naturally: 1. **Galactagogues**: Some foods and supplements are believed to help increase milk supply, such as oats, fenugreek, and fennel. Consult your healthcare provider before taking any supplements. 2. **Breast Compressors**: Use breast compressions during feeding or pumping to help with milk flow and emptying the breast more effectively. ### Encourage Direct Breastfeeding: 1. **Comfortable Positioning**: Try different breastfeeding positions to find one that is comfortable for both you and your baby. 2. **Breastfeeding When Sleepy**: Some babies are more willing to breastfeed when they are drowsy or just waking up. 3. **Use a Nipple Shield**: Temporarily using a nipple shield can help some babies transition to breastfeeding if they have been used to bottle feeding. If you continue to struggle, it might be helpful to reach out to a lactation consultant or your pediatrician for further guidance and support.
