A. me & my sisinlaw where pregnant at same time & we both got thyroid during pregnancy.. (though my sister's or mom never got) Now our baby is 6months & we still continue thyroid tablets. My TSH was 2 on my last check up 3months back still i was advised to continue low dose. So 5 should be concerning Most of the time thyroid gained in pregnancy will go after delivery, but it might take upto an year & it might stay forever. So always consult your doctor before stopping or taking thyroid tablets.!

A. Thyroid needs regular examination once in six months followed by correct dosage of medication based on the test results. It cannot be cured in one go. It has to be brought under control periodically. Once the thyroid levels are under control still u may have to be under medication for a while until the doctor advices to stop using medicines. Even after stopping the medicines you should get your thyroid levels checked at regular intervals to make sure the levels are under control. Also there are other factors like free T3 and free T4 which has to be looked for along with the TSH levels to come to a decision. I would suggest you to consult an endocrinologist or a MD doctor.
