Q.

I am 4 month 2 week pregnant. my doctor has instructed me for next ultrasound. This will be my 4th ultrasound. my question is (i) Is it normal to have this much ultrasound. How many ultrasound are necessary in total? (ii) Do ultrasound affect baby in any manner?

A. ultrasounds never harm your baby.. 1st is done between 5-6 weeks to see gestational sac and cardiac activities 2nd at 12 weeks for down syndrome or other chromosomal abnormalities 3rd between 18-20 weeks to see all organ functions and last 4th at 32-34 weeks to see presentation and liquor amount still sometimes you may require extra scans if something is not visible once

A. Hello mam and ultrasound or sonography never affects a baby in any manner it is only done to see the growth of the child and what all is happening in your stomach if there is any other issue or anything they to tell you with the help of a sonogram. Mostly 3 to 4 ultrasound and necessary through your pregnancy not much I don’t know why your gynaecologist and suggesting you so many ultrasound but if she’s there has to be some reason behind it so it would be better that you please discuss it with your gynaecologist once in detail about the same
