ExpertDr. Minal AcharyaNutritionist6 years agoA. baby should gain at least five hundred gram per month and should double the birth weight by 5 months and triple the birth weight by one year. for healthy weight gain, exclusively breastfeed your baby till 6 months complete.

If Yiu follow a chart then you can see different weights for different ages and all the charts are different from each other and hardly they matches. So try not to follow any chart. The current weight always depends on the baby's birth weight. whatever is the baby's birth weight it should be double by six months and triple by 12months. Babies loose weight after birth by 400 to 600 grams and regain it in a month or two and after that they gain weight by 700 to even 1 kg in a month. After six months the weight gaining process slows down a bit and it comes down 500 to 600 grams in a month. so you can now calculate it accordingly. Because following a chart for accurate weight will give you extra tensions . So always follow this to find out the correct weight of your child. Hope this helps

Janani ViswanathanMom of 2 children6 years agoA. 5.1 to 7.9 kg is the average weight range for this age group. Even if he is not in this range you need not worry as long as the baby is taking feeds properly, poops and pees regularly and is active and healthy.
